Another organization we support is the animal rescue community. Fort Hood will not allow certain types of dogs on the post so many soldiers either have to move off post or rehome their family pet. Since this is a very stressful time we want to offer some guidance to organizations that might be able to help you.

Before you take your pet to a shelter consider this, many shelters are kill shelters and your pet may not make it out alive. Please try to find them a good home.

However, we want to advise you DO NOT OFFER A DOG or CAT FOR FREE TO A GOOD HOME ON CRAIGS LIST. So many dog fighters and flippers pose as friendly, good people but really they are going to harm or do worst to your family pet. Instead try these alternatives. Please don’t give up on your pet, they love you.
